About:  - Harry Dwyer Photography -

I initially started out like many others do as a keen, enthusiastic hobbyist photographer, but didn't really start out on my photographic journey properly until I volunteered my time and efforts to Events and Social Media Advertising with Charities such as Oxfam Online, The Home Farm Trust - Luv2MeetU, The Milestone Society and with Travel & Transport Heritage in Yorkshire on projects such as The Crossing the Pennines Heritage Trail.

In the midst of this I gained a lot of valuable experience and also obtained Qualifications with The Royal Photographic Society and Open University along the way. I now offer photography services of all types for Families, Family Events, Festivals, Portraits, Studio and Business Imaging, and I pride myself in providing a Happy, Pleasant and Professional Service; I want to concentrate on Telling the Real Story. I want individual personalities to Shine Through!

I use various techniques, expertise and skill to capture key moments with photography whilst staying within the group, but I also keep a relatively low profile too. If people, whether it be Individuals, Families or Artists can engage in natural activity without any distractions I can record wonderful natural key moments and life memories, and Document this in images that tell The Real Story about Who They Are, Where They Are, and How they Relate to Each Other.

Whatever the event, whether it's a festival, christening or family day out, Natural Candid Images are so much better than posed ones, Adults and Kids alike tend to be much more relaxed whilst they're having fun. Natural images tell a better story in lots more ways than random photographs can ever do.

Camera Quality Counts - Are iPhones, Smart Phones & Compact Cameras Good Enough For The Job?

Do you really need a Photographer, or high end Camera, or can you save money and share/print off what you want from a smart phone or compact camera and feel happy with the final result?

The fact is, you should Never go for the cheap option unless you want small prints and are happy with 'snapshot' quality. If you want High Quality you should always consider the Photographer first! An iPhone or Smart Phone, although handy and portable, can Never match a DSLR Camera for quality, especially when you want prints in Larger Formats and for other Print Media such as Canvas Wall Art.

Quick snaps taken with a phone or compact camera and well framed, can look fantastic on a Phone, Tablet, PC and are great for sharing on Social Media. Small to Medium sized prints will look fairly good too at 6" x 4" and 5" x 7" but for anything larger, and for correct re-sizing, you need a Photographer with the right equipment, A Quality DSLR Camera, Interchangable Lenses and Experience.

Don't get me wrong, I do use my phone camera at times for quick snaps, and they are so handy to have, and are great for instant sharing with friends. I find them most useful for capturing ideas, places etc that you can revisit and photograph in detail, and at times of the day that present different lighting situations using different lenses. That said, I would never be happy using my phone camera images for anything else other than for creative ideas, and most of those images are binned fairly quickly.

A Cautionary Sidenote: for those who are into following people who Blog  with Images ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog ) I'll let you into a secret, some of the Top followed Photographers on e.g Instagram, actually use quality DSLR Cameras, not Smart Phones - Instant sharing is great, but, just like 'Fake News' don't be fooled by who's sharing them, and what they're sharing them with !

At the bottom of this page is a link to a fantastic Tech report from Business insider Harrison Jacobs, which goes into much more detail. The report was first published in March 2015 - here's a quote from it;

'The biggest difference between a smartphone camera and a dedicated camera is the ability to use different lenses. High-quality lenses produce unparalleled sharpness and image quality. .... photos look crisp, detailed, styled, and hyper-real. They look like photographs instead of snapshots.'

Eve's Cafe

Eve's Cafe - © Harry Dwyer Photography 2016
As a local Photographer I like to give a helping hand now and again where I can, and offered to take some free photographs of Eve's Cafe, formerly The Pavilion Tea Rooms in Cleckheaton.

The former Tea Rooms changed hands (and names) recently and as a result, Websites and Social Media pages have to be re-named and updated accordingly, so I offered to give them some free updated images showing the new signage.

The Cafe is located within Cleckheaton's Memorial Park, a beautiful relaxing space in the heart of the Town. The Cafe has a lovely Retro, Vintage feel inside, and is perfectly clean with plenty of space, not cramped like a lot of Cafes I can think of.

Eve and her Sister run the Cafe with a pleasant smile and are very friendly with locals so if you need a bite to eat and a refreshing cuppa in peace, call in, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
